Jean Lee is a journalist in Los Angeles.
Her work has appeared in the Washington Post, PBS NewsHour, The 19th News, USA Today, NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt, the Today Show, Hallie Jackson NOW, and nbcnews.com, among other places.
Her series on the healthcare worker crisis won the New York Press Club Nellie Bly Award. Her work has also received recognition from the National Press Club Awards and the National Headliner Awards.
She is currently with NBC News National’s social newsgathering desk where she uses OSINT investigative tools and geolocation to verify video and other reporting elements. She was previously in the investigative unit, where she reported long-term print stories and associate produced for television.
Previously in publishing, she once worked on agriculture, environmental sustainability, and gardening books. She graduated from Columbia Graduate School of Journalism in 2021 and was a post-grad reporting fellow with The 19th News, covering gender equity, the prison system, labor, and U.S. News.
